As a husband-and-wife team raising two boys here in the Sioux Falls area, we understand what it’s like to juggle work, kids, and big decisions because we’re doing it, too. Living in nearby Garretson gives us a deep appreciation for the small-town feel and strong community ties that make this area such a special place to live and work.

Justin Oakland
Founder and Chief Construction & Development Officer
Justin’s journey into construction started early. At just 18, he launched his own underground irrigation company straight out of high school with nothing more than a pickup truck, trailer, a couple of shovels, and a whole lot of grit. That small business grew into a full-scale operation with a team of twelve, offering irrigation installs, maintenance, seeding, and sodding, all while giving Justin a front-row seat to the world of new construction.
While still in high school, he also completed an internship with a local custom home builder, where he got his first real taste of the industry he knew he wanted to be part of. His background in the green industry became one of his greatest strengths, giving him crucial knowledge of dirt work, drainage, and grading—critical details that can make or break a home long after it’s built.
Today, Justin brings that same hands-on knowledge and intuitive eye to every project. He has a reputation for quality work and is trusted by subcontractors, realtors, and homeowners alike. Known for his calm confidence, approachable leadership, and ability to get things done, Justin has built strong relationships throughout the industry. Clients feel at ease with him on the job site, trades respect his leadership style, and his projects stand apart for their solid, reliable craftsmanship.
Nikki Oakland
Chief Operations & Design Officer
Nikki brings both vision and organization to Oakland Homes, balancing big-picture planning with the systems and structure that keep every detail on track. From design selections and client care to finances and scheduling, she’s the one holding all the moving parts together.
After 11 years of work as a chiropractor, Nikki stepped away from her practice in 2018 to join Justin full-time at Oakland Homes. Today, that same heart for service guides her work as she helps clients align their lifestyles with spaces designed to support their routines, dreams, and everyday lives. Creative yet grounded, she brings style and intention to each home, always with practicality and budget in mind.
Known for her warmth and professionalism, Nikki is a gifted communicator who bridges the gap between the build world and clients. She listens well, explains things clearly, and makes the process feel approachable. Clients trust her because she’s real—she doesn’t sell, she guides.
Outside of work, Nikki loves cheering on the couple’s two boys at sports games, tending to her garden, golfing and snowboarding as a family, or planning trips for a little adventure.
Nelson Perdomo
Construction Support Specialist
Nelson brings more than two decades of experience in the field of new construction. Originally from Honduras, he has a diverse background that spans irrigation, painting, drywall, construction, and landscaping. His wide range of skills and tireless work ethic make him an invaluable part of every project.
Nelson has worked alongside Justin for over 20 years, building not just homes but a foundation of trust and loyalty within the team. Known for his commitment to clean jobsites and his willingness to tackle whatever needs to be done, he ensures that each project runs smoothly from start to finish. Whether he’s coordinating with subcontractors or handling the details behind the scenes, Nelson’s reliability and care are felt in every home Oakland builds.
